Project Overview
Located in Loudima, Republic of Congo, the AgriHub is a pioneering biofuel processing facility developed by Zerock as part of Eni’s circular economy strategy.
The hub is engineered to process oil-bearing seeds such as castor, soybean, and sunflower, aligning with the country’s sustainability and energy transition objectives.
This innovative project features modular, scalable technology, enabling global replication. Operating 24/7, it houses advanced infrastructure for seed storage, extraction, and oil collection. With two processing lines handling five tons per hour each, the plant exemplifies high-efficiency, green industry development.
Zerock delivered the project under a full EPIC framework, demonstrating its leadership in sustainable construction and reinforcing its role in building a greener, more resilient future.
Scope of work
Zerock responsibilities covered the full project’s lifecycle: Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, and Commissioning (EPIC), as well as startup operations. The scope included detailed engineering based on client-supplied BEDP, procurement and international logistics from over ten countries, and multidisciplinary construction activities.
Major works
Challenges
Delivering a project of this scale in a remote area posed significant logistical and operational challenges. Procurement of materials and equipment from more than ten countries required intricate coordination of shipping schedules, customs clearance, and transport logistics.
Strict safety protocols were enforced throughout the project, particularly during high-risk activities such as heavy lifting and commissioning. Zerock mitigated risks through over 428 targeted training sessions, 16,197 toolbox talks, and the issuance of 2,000 work permits.
The project also required careful synchronization of civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines to meet tight schedules. Despite the remote terrain and advanced technology involved,
Zerock achieved seamless integration of systems while maintaining a zero-LTI record through over 1,285,428 safe work hours.
Impact
The Loudima AgriHub represents a landmark in sustainable industrial development for the Republic of Congo. By enabling the local processing of castor and other oilseeds into biofuel feedstock, the facility supports national goals for energy diversification, food security, and economic resilience.
It also promotes environmental stewardship by reusing processing byproducts as soil conditioners. Zerock successful delivery strengthens Congo’s industrial base while contributing to the global bio-economy.
The project has created local employment opportunities, boosted technical skills through rigorous training programs, and fostered a culture of safety and environmental responsibility. As a modular and expandable design, AgriHub offers a blueprint for future biofuel hubs, cementing Zerock role as a catalyst for green innovation.
