Project Overview
The River & Sea Resort is a landmark coastal development located along Nahr el Kalb, near Jounieh, Lebanon. Spanning approximately 30,000 m², this mixed-use resort integrates luxury hospitality, residential units, and recreational facilities.
The design emphasizes harmony with the natural environment, offering high-end accommodations, restaurants, wellness amenities, and direct beach access.
The project seeks to promote eco-tourism while preserving the area’s historical and natural heritage, with its direct vicinity to the Nahr el Kalb historic valley—an area renowned for ancient inscriptions and archaeological significance. Its strategic location between river and sea, near Beirut, makes it a premier destination.
Scope of work
Zerock Lebanon undertook the comprehensive redevelopment of the River & Sea Resort, covering civil, structural, architectural, and MEP works.
The scope included reinforcing and adapting existing structures, executing new builds for hospitality, wellness, and dining facilities, and integrating modern utility networks. Extensive landscaping, beach development, and installation of eco-friendly systems—such as solar power and water recycling infrastructure—were key components.
The project also involved upgrading road access, parking, and event venues to meet international standards.
Zerock ensured the seamless delivery of a resort that combines luxury, functionality, and sustainability in line with modern tourism requirements.
Challenges
One of the primary challenges of the River & Sea Resort project was addressing the deteriorated state of concrete structures initially built in the 1990s.
Prolonged exposure to sea salt mist had left these elements vulnerable, requiring extensive reinforcement of slabs, columns, and beams to restore structural integrity. Another significant challenge was reconfiguring the original design to accommodate contemporary resort standards, including upgraded utilities, smart systems, and compliance with modern hospitality codes.
This required innovative engineering solutions to balance preserving the existing framework while delivering a resort equipped for today’s operational and guest experience demands.
Impact
The River & Sea Resort has redefined coastal hospitality in Lebanon, setting a new benchmark for eco-conscious and culturally integrated developments.
The project generated significant local employment during construction and continues to support the community through ongoing operations.
By revitalizing a previously underutilized waterfront area, the resort has boosted tourism and contributed to regional economic growth. Its sustainable features—including renewable energy use and green landscaping—demonstrate Zerock Lebanon’s commitment to environmentally responsible construction.
The completed resort not only offers a luxurious guest experience but also serves as a model for future coastal developments in the region.
