Poor Soil Conditions
Soft clay soils in Uyo required soil stabilization (cement treatment) to prevent road failure.
Flooding & Drainage Issues
Inadequate and lack of initial drainage system led to waterlogging, requiring redesign of the whole drainage system and the provision of new undergrounds to drain the stormwater in some sections.
Right-of-Way (ROW) Conflicts
Some property owners resisted demolition without adequate compensation.
Legal disputes slowed progress in certain sections.
Heavy Traffic Disruptions: Construction especially between Ibom Plaza and Nwaniba/Oron Road Junction (approx. 1km) was very difficult and affected by heavy traffic and plenty shops along the road.
Material Supply Issues: Occasional delays in granite supply from quarries.
Intermittent budget releases slowed progress.
Impact
Improved Transportation: Reduced travel time between Uyo metropolis and adjoining areas.
Economic Growth: Enhanced access to markets and government offices and business activities.
Urban Development: Attracted real estate investments along the corridor (shops, hotels, real estate)..
Flood Mitigation: Proper drainage reduced erosion and water damage.
