Project Overview
ANOH Midstream Gas Processing Plant Project is one of seven (7) critical projects identified by Federal Government of Nigeria for supply of gas to the domestic market.
ANOH Midstream Gas Processing Plant is designed to accommodate up to 4 x 300Mmscf/d processing Blocks making total capacity of 1,200mmscfd processed dry gas complete with associate stabilized condensate and LPG products.
The green field plant will be self-sufficient in terms of utilities and infrastructure. Sales gas will export through a new 36” spur line to be built by NGC, connecting Oben-Obiafu/Obrikom (OB3) trunkline that will serve ELPS (Lagos) and Ajaokuta (Kogi/Abuja) domestic gas pipeline transportation systems.
Stabilized Gas-liquids will spike to existing crude evacuation systems pipelining to Bonny and Brass Terminals for export, with an option for local refining, under present consideration by several Third Parties. Produced LPG’s will be sold from the plant from evacuation by road tanker loaded from the (included) Plant LPG depot.
Scope of work
Comprehensive foundation works covering:
Pipe racks, compressors, and utilities
GTG units, storage tanks, and LPG bullets
Flare stack support structures and control room foundations
Equipment bases, sleepers, telecoms mast, and pump stations
Special Geotechnical Execution:
Installation of over 900 Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) piles, each 800mm in diameter and drilled to 25 meters deep
Infrastructure Features:
Construction of a heavy-duty paved parking area designed for truck traffic and plant logistics
Development of an 8-meter-deep underground water tank to support plant utilities and firefighting systems
Challenges
Environmental Factors
Frequent rainfall causing work stoppages due to poor lateritic site soil conditions
Deep underground facilities construction such the underground Fire water pond construction.
Logistical Constraints
Material sourcing difficulties due to remote and security situation in the location
Interstate lockdowns during the Covid19 pandemic
Social Factors
Community expectations and complaints about construction disruptions
Security concerns in some neighborhoods along the route
Covid 19 lockdown as project was executed during the Covid pandemic.
Impact
The ANOH Gas Plant plays a critical role in advancing Nigeria’s energy landscape. Designed to supply 300 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, the plant strengthens domestic energy security by reducing reliance on imported fuels and diesel generators. Its output supports cleaner, more affordable energy access for households and businesses, driving down energy costs and fostering economic activity.
Beyond power generation, the project fuels industrialization—enabling growth in manufacturing, agro-processing, and transportation—while aligning with Nigeria’s Decade of Gas strategy. It creates both direct and indirect employment, boosts local content participation, and paves the way for expanded use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). Environmentally, it supports a cleaner transition by lowering emissions and improving air quality.
